What are Tinctures?

Tinctures have been used for hundreds of years as medicines, supplements, and treatments for numerous conditions.

The two main components of a tincture are the extract (typically from plants) and a solvent or carrier.

In order to produce a tincture the base ingredient needs to be compounded, liquefied, or dissolved into the appropriate carrier.

The chemical elements in the tincture are then either extracted from the solvent or carrier (such as alcohol, water, benzene, ether, or some other solvent), or diluted and combined.

At this point the tincture is ready to be used in a salve, ointment, or ingested (orally, by drop).
